Praying for My Children: Taking the challenge

We reached one of those milestones in raising kids today. I drove my oldest child to the DMV with all the paperwork and nerves to get her permit. She had been talking about it for two years, and now it's done. One morning of sitting in line, taking a picture, a test, $10 , and our whole world has changed. Just like that. A new season of parenting began when she walked to the car with that piece of freedom in her wallet. I'm going to say that thing that every veteran parent told me when my kids were babies. You ready? "They grow up so fast!"

God impressed upon my heart the brevity of this job as mama. These sweet, little cuties become young adults,  capable of impacting their world while we're busy making grocery lists and signing permission slips. Suddenly they're facing big decisions, tough choices, so much pressure, and our parenting is no longer physically demanding (good-bye diapers and child-proofing), it's an emotional challenge. Perhaps challenge is not strong enough. It's a battle. Can I get a witness?

You know what I hear the Father whispering in my ear these days? "Your battle is not with your kids. It is for your kids." Let's talk war tactics for a minute. I'm sharing something from my heart with you. Will you join me as I walk out onto the battlefield. Even now, the enemy, the one who comes to steal, kill and destroy, is prowling around. (John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:8) We have to fight! This is what I hear from the one who loves my sweet teenager more than I can ever understand. Two things he is asking of me.
1. Search his Word for a scripture to pray over her. Pray it everyday.
2. Pray super specifically for her everyday. For her choices, for wisdom, for her future spouse.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you a Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. Ephesians 2:17

This is what I am praying over my sweet daughter. I would love for you to share your verses here in the comment box. Let's do this together!
