No Longer an Orphan: Enjoying God's Provision
Although we are children of God, our lives often resemble that of orphans, wondering and worrying about our needs being met.“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" Matthew 6:25-26 NIVIt is not uncommon for an adopted child who has lived through poverty and neglect to "hoard" food. Survival has become instinctual. Adoptive parents may find food stashed away in their child's drawers, pockets, or closet. Even though there is now a family who is ready and able to provide for them, adopted children need time to develop trust in that provision. If you spend more time worrying than praying, you may be living as an orphan too. If you spend more time trying to make a plan to fix everything instead of asking your Father for help, you might have forgotten that you are now a child of the King. After six years, I still have to remind my adopted son, "all you have to do is ask." After 36 years of walking with God, He has to remind me as well.Do you trust your Father today and approach him with your needs, or do you wring your hands with worry? Do you anxiously try to fix everything or do you go to your Father for wisdom and guidance? He adopted you and now you can enjoy the provision of a loving Father. It's yours.
