It All Can Change in a Moment
I woke up late this morning. Really late. I had so much to do that this blog had to wait.
I finished my errands, made dinner, finished some work. Our evening was interrupted by terrible news about a sweet woman from our church. She died today. Home schooling mother of two great kids.
I'm not sure what I was going to write about today. None of it seems to be important now.
My heart hurts for them.
My youngest son's teacher had a house fire this morning. We are going through clothes, searching for a way to help them.
Neither of these families saw tragedy coming today. As they welcomed in a new year yesterday, this was not part of their plans.
You may know someone today who is facing loss and tragedy. Pray for them, that their hearts would be open to the comfort Christ offers. Walk with them through their pain today, and don't forget them three months from now.
Life can change in a moment. I am thankful tonight that God never changes. I am thankful that that sweet mother knew him personally and is with him right now. I am amazed as I see the outpouring of care being given to the family whose house burned. In our deepest need, he is there. Remind those you love of that powerful truth.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5
English Standard Version (ESV)
God of All Comfort
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.[a]
