Transparency: Where Open Hearts Find Healing

When I am transparent with you, I give you permission to do the same. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. James 5:16We all have wounds needing to be healed. We all have sins that entangle us. If we think we don’t, we are being foolish. If we think we can handle it on our own, we have been deceived. God is the only one who can offer us forgiveness, yet he tells us that we find healing when we confess our mess to each other.Pain that remains in darkness remains powerful in our lives. In darkness, our pain can accuse us, discourage us, frighten us, and paralyze us. Yet, when we bring our mess into the light, we can see if for what it really is and then find freedom. Our pain no matter how much it has bullied is not match for the healing power of Jesus. Our mess can seem impossible to overcome or escape, but when we share it with each other we have opened a door allowing the light of truth to shine on it. It’s scary to think about letting someone see us at our worst. We want to be accepted and our secrets make us feel unacceptable. Yet, what relief it brings when we take off our masks and let the light shine on our darkness! When I know that you struggle, I know that I’m not alone. When I hear your story, I find courage to share mine. When I see you find healing, I believe there is hope for me too.If you are carrying the weight of your past or the load of your sin alone, would you be open to transparency today? Healing is waiting for you on the other side.
