Everyone Needs A Suzie Sparkles!
No, Suzie Sparkles is not a new doll that's out this year, although I do think that would be a perfect name for one. Suzie Sparkles is a nickname I lovingly gave one of my closest girlfriends.
Suzie's like a grown up version of Strawberry Shortcake. She's kind, helpful, and loves her Very Berry house. My sweet friend loves to celebrate and make everything sparkly. I'm quite sure that at some point she owned a "Bedazzler."
She cannot wait for opportunities to be festive. In late January, she breaks out the Valentine placemats. In late September she is already wearing her Halloween underwear with cute little spiders on them. You know all those crazy holidays, like National Boomerang Day? She has an app so that she doesn't miss one. For her, just the thought of the day being a holiday, no matter how lame, makes life more fun.
Maybe you know someone like her. I hope so. Sparkly friends who see something worth celebrating everyday are worth celebrating! She has lived her share of real life, I promise. She has walked through loss on many levels, and disappointments I have never known. Yet, she has chosen to see life from a great perspective.
Suzie is filtering everything through a lens of hope. What is it God's word says about hope? It doesn't disappoint. If we are looking around with hope, we see plenty to celebrate. Likewise, if we are viewing life through a filter of hurt, disappointment seems to be right in our face each day.
I make fun of her holiday obsession, but my heart is blessed by her attitude whenever I'm around her. She might even be rubbing off on me, I added a new Christmas decoration this year.
Life happens and being disappointed is okay. Let's just don't stay there. We have hope in Jesus and much to celebrate! I pray you have a friend like Suzie Sparkles in your circle, and I pray that you can bring sparkles to a life that needs some extra light today.
