White Knuckling?- Let it Go!

Some things in life should be gripped very tightly, while others should not.

I'm being very obvious here, but sometimes this girl needs a gentle reminder of the obvious in life, the truths that I have heard spoken and have even spoken myself. Truths that are obvious, yet I trip over every day. Kinda like my bedpost. It is an obvious part of my bed, yet the bruise on my thigh would tell you that it's maybe not too obvious to me. Sadly, the same bruise from the same bedpost appears in the same spot at least once each month. As I said, just a gentle reminder.Things to grip tightly: a baseball bat, a ladder, a sword, your child's hand in a crowd, a lifesaver in a raging river, your kite string on a windy day, a helium-filled balloon, a rock face, the monkey bars, a rope swing, a greased pig, your marriage, your sanity as you raise a house full of kids.Things to hold loosely: your pencil, a butterfly, your golf club or tennis racket, your money, your plans, your children, your expectations. Here's a hard truth for us to accept. It's obvious, but we continue to see the same bruise. Over and over.. There are things that no matter how hard we grip, we can't possibly hold onto or control. So,  I could write 400 more words, but only three are needed.Let it go.A death grip on your pencil causes arthritis  and bad penmanship. How does a death grip on your children, your husband, your money, and your expectations effect you and God's kingdom?Let go. God's got this.Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
