Rainy Days and Mammograms Always Get Me Down

Today is one of those days that hot pastor thanks God that he is not a woman. With good reason. This qualifies for the "laugh or you'll cry"" post that I wrote not long ago. I will try to enjoy the little chocolates in the waiting area and imagine the time my mother left her underwear at the doctor's office. Not to mention the time she undressed and sat to wait for the doctor in his personal office. It's hard to laugh when you're standing in your robe and that ugly machine with that little shelf is in front of you waiting for your ....

Mammograms are among the many things that unite us as women, along with bras and our lifelong search for the perfect purse or the perfect scarf. No matter how hard I try to explain some things to hot pastor, he will never quite understands.  He laughs.I confess that when angry once, I did envision a robe and a little shelf just for him. I laughed.

Hot pastor is and always will be my closest friend and know me better than anyone else, but I am so thankful to have a community of women who understand what a big commitment it is to switch make-up brands or the need we have to make the world around us beautiful with new paint and new curtains.

We need each other girls. Don't we? What a beautiful gift we have in one another. Our unique design as women unites us, not just not just in the accessories  department, but in life. It's true, we get all dramatic, jealous, and petty. We can be downright mean and fight like cats. Maybe we should focus on what we have in common and celebrate our differences.

You may get tired of hearing me say it, but it is my passion to speak freedom into your life. If you and I know in our deepest places that we are loved, accepted, worthy and secure, the jealousies fade. When we are confident that we are enough in Christ, we can shake off our insecurities and rejoice with each other. I am so thankful for my friends who give me grace. I am such a fruit loop. What a great feeling to be loved anyway!

I'll think of you today and feel your pain. I'll laugh with my mom today when I make sure I'm fully dressed to leave the imaging center. As a little treat, I added a link to a super funny stand-up routine about mammograms. Not high quality video but definitely high quality humor. Enjoy the link below.
